DISASSEMBLY

1. INSPECT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2WD): INSPECTION (2008 Sequoia)+

2. INSPECT UNIVERSAL JOINT SPIDER BEARING DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2WD): INSPECTION (2008 Sequoia)+

3. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT UNIVERSAL JOINT SPIDER

HINT:

Use the same removal procedure for both the front and rear propeller shaft universal joint spiders.


(a) Place matchmarks on the universal joint sleeve yoke and propeller shaft's universal joint yoke.


(b) Remove the grease fitting from the spider bearing.

(c) Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 4 hole snap rings.

(d) Fix the propeller shaft assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.

(e) Using a screwdriver, remove the 4 slingers of the spider bearing.

(f) Using SST, pull the universal joint spider bearing from the propeller shaft's universal joint yoke.

NOTICE:

Pull out the spider bearing until the SST claws contact the propeller shaft's universal joint yoke.

(g) Clamp the removed universal joint spider bearing in a vise.

(h) Using a brass bar and hammer, tap the propeller shaft's universal joint yoke to remove the universal joint spider bearing.

NOTICE:

Do not tap the propeller shaft tube.

HINT:

Use the same removal procedure for the universal joint spider bearing on the opposite side.

(i) Remove the universal joint sleeve yoke and universal joint spider from the propeller shaft.

(j) Using SST, pull out the universal joint spider bearing from the universal joint sleeve yoke.

NOTICE:

Pull out the spider bearing until the SST claws contact the universal joint sleeve yoke.

(k) Clamp the removed universal joint spider bearing in a vise.

(l) Using a brass bar and hammer, tap the universal joint sleeve yoke to remove the universal joint spider bearing.

HINT:

Use the same removal procedure for the universal joint spider bearing on the opposite side.

(m) Remove the universal joint spider from the universal joint sleeve yoke.
